About
Me

Hello the name is Savanah Knechel and pronouns I jive with are she/her/they/them! I am a queer, neurodivergent theatre-maker and educator. Depending on the day, I am a writer, choreographer, director, mask-maker, teaching artist, and activist currently based in Sarasota, FL. Additionally, I have experience in arts administration, photography, and social media strategy!

Since COVID hit my days have been spent devising curriculum and developing a non-profit organization that focuses on accessibility and inclusion in theatre production and education called Pineapple Theatre Project. As an educator, I hope to develop citizen artists who are equally able to belt and engage with art for activism. When teaching restorative justice and transferring the many means of production is at the forefront of my pedagogy.

As an artist and educator, I seek to be an advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and equitable theatrical spaces. In every aspect of life, I aim to work towards becoming more anti-racist, learning more about and honoring my indigeneity, and helping to amplify all marginalized voices.
