My name is Savanah Knechel (she/her/they/them) and currently, I am based in Sarasota, FL. Depending on the time of day I am a writer, choreographer, director, mask-maker, teaching artist, and activist. Additionally, I am also a freelance arts administrator, photographer, assistant, and art director for social media strategy!
Recently, I finished New York University's graduate program in Educational Theatre in Colleges and Communitiesy. In 2014, I graduated with a BFA in Directing, Playwriting, and Production from University of the Arts. Currently, my days are spent teaching virtually for Broadway Bound Kids, writing, devising curriculum, and developing a non-profit organization (Pineapple Theatre Project) focused on accessibility and inclusion in theatre.
When not creating or teaching theatre I am an advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and equitable spaces in theatre production and education. As well as striving to help amplify underrepresented voices by creating and supporting work that centers narratives from marginalized communities.
